Software Solutions Help Restaurant Operators Incentivize Employees

For about five years, multi-brand franchisee Alexander Johnson has been utilizing a comprehensive scheduling system that changed the game for his operation.

Restaurant365, which works with brands such as Tropical Smoothie Cafe and Five Guys, has revamped its own forecasting tool, said Inventory and Sales General Manager Joe Hannon.

“It can get down to the 15-minute mark, letting an operator get really dialed in,” Hannon said. “That’s how QSR brands really need to be. They need to know how to schedule those windows to save labor costs, and that translates to food as well. It impacts purchase orders and how much you need to get from vendors.”

Hannon said he hears from franchisors and franchisees alike that they need more of their processes simplified, creating another area of investment for the company.

“One thing we’ve rolled out is our task management solution,” Hannon said. “It’s not just a list of checkboxes. Now, when you click a task, it brings up an entire inventory account screen.

“Turnover is also high in the industry, so we want to eliminate that speedbump as much as we can by having a system that can ramp up new workers fast and configure all of the labor standardizations across states for each location.”
